Vinyl Decal Clothing Care - Instructions

  1. Do not dry clean. Your decal clothing should never be dry cleaned. The harsh temperature and chemicals that are used during dry clean just do not mix well with vinyl. This typically isn’t something you have to worry about unless you are applying vinyl to work uniforms or something similar.
  2. Wash and dry garments inside out. By turning the shirts, pillowcases, etc inside out, you’re giving the vinyl a layer of protection during the wash. While washing and drying clothes, they’re rubbing up against each other and that abrasion during washing can cause your vinyl to peel prematurely.
  3. Choose cold or warm water temperature settings for the wash. When washing shirts that have vinyl on them, you don’t want your water temperature to exceed 178 degrees Fahrenheit. High temperatures can weaken the adhesive on the vinyl which can cause the vinyl to peel or crack.
  4. Use mild detergent. Detergents that are “green” can be too harsh for the adhesive on vinyl. You should also avoid bleach and fabric softeners in order to make the vinyl last as long as possible.
  5. Dry on a low/tumble setting or hang dry. Just like when washing, you won’t want to dry your vinyl shirts on high heat. If you stick with tumble dry or low heat, you should be good to go. If possible, you can hang dry your vinyl garments for best results. Hang drying will minimize any wrinkles you see in vinyl after washing.
  6. Do not iron directly on a vinyl design. Just like you never iron directly to the vinyl when applying, you won’t ever want to do that after laundering. The high heat on the vinyl will melt the vinyl and or burn the adhesive. Regardless, ironing directly on vinyl is a great way to ruin a shirt. If you must iron the shirt, make sure to use low heat and place a dish towel or cloth over the transfer.

Not all printed designs are created equal and durability resulting in lower priced t-shirts that don't hold up...
We source only QUALITY TEES and Our T-Shirts come in VINYL or INK print. Vinyl is offered on all our T-Shirts (100% Cotton, 50/50 and Tri-Blends) while....

Our Ink print is offered only on (50/50 for a Grunge look and 100% Polyester for a Vibrant look) for the specific reason we don't use heat transfer paper type that you buy in a store, rather we use a sublimation process that turns the specialized sublimation ink (not regular ink jet printer or laser printer but a specialized printer with specialized ink) to a gas that bonds to the man made material in t-shirts, ie. poly or rayon not cotton. This means the ink print is embedded / bonded into the fabric and does not sit on top thus does not fade with washing whereas heat transfer printed papers don't hold up over time on washes.

Durability and Feel
Our Sublimation uses a process where the ink becomes part of the fabric rather than adding a layer on top. This results in a transfer that is unmatched in both durability and feel. On the other hand, heat transfer paper adds a layer on top of the garment. This additional layer can be physically felt and is less durable than sublimation and can become faded and cracked over time with numerous wash cycles.

Vinyl sits on top but is melted into the material offering also great durability and years of washing when washed correctly and the most common after silk screening for printed t-shirts.
